After 31 months of implementing an EU project, Vemo trade d.o.o. successfully concluded the project “Expansion of Spatial and Production Capacities as a Prerequisite for Sustainable Growth and Development of Vemo trade d.o.o.” in March 2018, according to the Grant Agreement signed with the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Crafts and the Croatian Agency for Small Businesses, Innovation, and Investments. The project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020. It encompassed the construction of a production-storage hall, acquisition of a paper bag production line, procurement of a die-cut cleaning machine, implementation of an ICT system for business management, and participation in a trade fair. The project aimed to enhance the competitiveness of Vemo trade d.o.o. by creating conditions for its sustainable growth and development. The construction of the new production-storage hall ensured spatial capacities, consolidating production-storage processes and reducing material, operational, and logistic costs. The acquisition of a paper bag production line increased the production capacity, while the die-cut cleaning machine introduced a new technology for machine die washing into the production process. The successful implementation of the ERP system for the digitization and integration of business process tracking enabled the optimization and integration of key business processes into a functional whole.

Achieved Results:
– Expanded company spatial capacities, laying the groundwork for optimizing production processes and increasing capacities.
– Streamlined technological processes and enhanced and modernized production capacities through the acquisition of new machinery.
– Integrated and optimized four key business processes, improving management efficiency.
– Enhanced human capacities to work with the new ICT system and better implementation of controlling.
– Increased visibility of the company in international markets.

Project Description: On August 12, 2015, Vemo trade d.o.o. initiated the project “Expansion of Spatial and Production Capacities as a Prerequisite for Sustainable Growth and Development of Vemo trade d.o.o.” The project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020. The project addressed the central problem of Vemo trade d.o.o.’s business – the lack of total capacities. The project had three fundamental components:

1. Infrastructure – construction of a production-storage hall with a building area of 2,909.81 m2.
2. Technological – acquisition of a paper bag production line.
3. Promotional – participation in a trade fair.

Project Objectives and Expected Results: The project aimed to increase the competitiveness of Vemo trade d.o.o. by creating conditions for its sustainable growth and development, constructing new spatial capacities, increasing production capacities, and strengthening the company’s human resources. The general goal was to contribute to the increase in growth, exports, and competitiveness of Croatian SMEs in the production of paper packaging. The successful implementation of the project would enable the opening of 10 jobs, a 50% increase in capacity, and a positive impact on target groups and end-users of the project – employees, the company itself, and its customers.
